WHO AM I ?
I came to live in Canada, from the UK, and moved to Vancouver Island in 2011, with my husband, two sons, two dogs and three cats!. My family and I became proud Canadian Citizens five years ago!
Charlie, is my Therapy dog and is present in my office often, his "brother" Dudley may join us in my clinical office from time to time!
I believe people, young and old, come from all walks of life often seek psychotherapy/psychological care at times of change, when they feel stuck, at odds with the world or struggling with emotional experiences. Whatever difficulties have brought you here, talking to a therapist offers an opportunity to share what troubles you without the fear of being judged or criticised.
I have chosen to be a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist in Canada and I specializing in caring for the older adolescent and young adults with a range of socio-emotional problems. I am specially trained to work to care for young people from the age of 14 yrs. to adolescents and beyond.
My approach incorporates an empathic, practical and relational approach to psychotherapy. I possess, respected, strong diagnostic and clinical skills. These areas are reflected in the care and treatment I offer that is relationship based and incorporates current research in neuroscience, developmental psychology and attachment theory. With extensive training and experience in the field of psychology and social services, I have worked with children with a range of socio-emotional, developmental and behavioural problems at all stages of development. I, with my husband are proud parents of two wonderful young men and I am aware that my own parenting experience has enriched my therapeutic work providing me with a greater empathy and understanding for the children and parents I care for.
To fellow professionals - Psychologists, Clinical Counsellors, Social Workers, Family Doctors, Mental Health Practitioners and School professionals
I believe that Clinical Supervision doesn’t stop after graduation or practising in the same area for many years. Many practitioners in supervision find it genuinely helps deepen their work with patients. Supervision gives practitioners the confidence they need to practice in their unique ways, especially when navigating complex decision-making.
I am qualified in the UK and Canada to offer Clinical Supervision - CCS in UK 2010 { Recertification is mandatory on a year basis, recertified as recently as 2024 } and RCC - ACS certified in Canada 2024.
